Whether you've been climbing indoors or are brand new to the sport, our Beginner Outdoor Climbing is designed to get you outside safely, confidently, and having fun. This is your gateway to the world of outdoor climbing, led by experienced instructors who know how to make learning exciting, approachable, and safe.
We’ll cover the essentials. How to use climbing gear, tie knots, belay, top rope climbing, move efficiently on rock, and communicate with a partner. You’ll get hands-on experience in a beautiful, natural setting while learning to assess and manage risk the right way.
Our instructors are certified by the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) and have current Wilderness Medical Training, so you can focus on learning and enjoying your day on the rock.
No experience? No problem. Just bring your sense of adventure. We’ll take care of the rest.

Is outdoor climbing safe?
All climbing involves some risk, but our instructors are experts in risk management. We use industry-standard equipment and techniques, and our guides are trained to keep you as safe as possible throughout the day.
Who are your instructors?
Our guides are certified by the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) and hold up-to-date wilderness medical certifications. You're learning from some of the most qualified professionals in the region.
What will I learn?
You’ll learn how to use climbing gear, tie essential knots, belay, move on real rock, and communicate effectively with your partner—all in a fun, supportive environment.
What do I need to bring?
We’ll provide all the technical climbing gear. You just need to bring comfortable clothing, sturdy shoes, water, snacks, and a sense of adventure. A full packing list will be sent after booking.
How long is the climbing day?
We offer half-day and full-day climbing experiences. Half-day trips are about 4 hours long with flexible start times between 8 AM and 12 PM. Full-day courses run approximately 8 hours, with start times available between 8 AM and 10 AM. Timing may vary slightly based on group size and location.
Where do you offer the course?
We guide in several top climbing areas in Western North Carolina. The specific location will be shared when you book, based on conditions and group needs.
Can kids or families participate?
Absolutely! We welcome families and offer customized instruction for kids. Just let us know when booking so we can tailor the experience.
